City Winery Hudson Valley presents Upstate With Special Guests The JoJos, husband and wife duo Jose Lopez and Joanna Teters on Thursday, October 15th at 7:00 PM(opens in a new tab)!

For fifteen years, Upstate has been writing songs rooted in the place they call home.

Founded by Melanie Glenn, Harry D’Agostino, and Mary Webster, the Hudson Valley band has built its sound around lasting songwriting, rich three-part harmonies, and the musical traditions that surround them—from the Ashokan folk scene and the legacy of Pete Seeger and Clearwater to the influence of Dylan and The Band just up the road in Woodstock. With Dylan McKinstry joining during the pandemic, that sound has grown fuller and more expansive.

Now, with three records behind them and their new album Abalone, Upstate brings those harmonies to City Winery Hudson Valley for a true homecoming. Expect songs spanning their catalog, alongside new material that reaches toward Laurel Canyon and Muscle Shoals while remaining firmly rooted in the Hudson Valley.

A night of local history, enduring songwriting, and voices meant to be heard together.

Husband and wife duo Jose Lopez and Joanna Teters, better known as The JoJos, bring their own take on soul, rock and Americana-tinged original works to your stage. Since their first songs starting taking shape in living room of their Brooklyn, NY apartment in the throes of the 2020 pandemic and later recorded, produced and mixed in partnership with Sean Walsh of the National Reserve, their sound heavily features Teters’ soulful vocals and Lopez’s rock guitar stylings. Songs grapple with themes of grief and loss, love and relationship, social justice and action, and Lopez’s textured and thoughtfully-crafted solos and songwriting perfectly complement Teters’ poetic lyrics and impressive vocal range. In the creation of their debut album “Unturned Stone [2024]” The JoJos drew on the nostalgia of the Stax Records era while honoring contemporary and varied styles. Their live sets come together as a five-piece band to create a powerful collection of captivating and moving performances, often punctuated by horns, organ, background vocals or pedal-steel guitar. Their newest EP, “My Room” was released on September 11, 2026, and features singer-songwriter Oscar Felix.
