Riki Rachtman spent decades as the face of hard rock, hosting MTV's Headbangers Ball through its most notorious years and running the Cathouse, the Hollywood nightclub where half of rock's biggest bands cut their teeth. One Foot in the Gutter is him unfiltered, no cameras, no script, just a multimedia set of stories from inside the room when the tape wasn't rolling. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Axl Rose chasing David Bowie down the street, Shannon Hoon working the front desk at his club, the kind of tales that made the era what it was.
There's no polish here, no highlight reel gloss, just a back alley confessional pulling the room through decades of rock and roll from the inside out. Expect the night to swing hard between two moods, roaring laughter one minute, dead silence the next, as the stories turn from absurd to unexpectedly personal.
It's a different kind of night at City Winery, equal parts rock history and stand up nerve, best taken in from a seat with a glass of something strong and a plate to match. For anyone who lived through that era, or wishes they had, this is the room to hear it told straight.
