Originally from New York and now based in Buenos Aires, Shindell draws from a life spent crossing cultures and boundaries to create richly detailed songs that illuminate the complexities of the human experience.
A gifted narrative songwriter, Shindell builds entire worlds through vivid characters, haunting melodies, and thoughtful observations. His songs can be tender, humorous, political, spiritual, or sharply insightful, giving voice to everyone from outsiders and wanderers to some truly unexpected narrators. His acclaimed album Careless expanded that signature sound with a broader sonic palette, pairing his distinctive acoustic guitar work with electric textures and ambitious arrangements.
