Patchai Reyes, founding member of the legendary Gipsy Kings, brings the passion, rhythm, and soul of rumba flamenca to City Winery Chicago for an unforgettable night of music. Born into a Gitano family in Arles, France, and the son of renowned flamenco singer José Reyes, Patchai helped shape the unmistakable sound that propelled the Gipsy Kings to international fame.
Who hasn’t danced to “Bamboleo”? Since 1987, the Gipsy Kings have become one of France’s most successful musical exports, earning gold record status in the United States and captivating audiences around the globe. Their 2014 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album further solidified a legacy that has spanned decades—music that continues to feel as vibrant and timeless as ever.
After nearly 40 years of touring and recording, the Reyes family tradition lives on. As part of a musical lineage that includes the legendary Manitas de Plata, Patchai now carries the torch forward with Gipsy Kings by Patchai Reyes and his project NEW GIPSY.
Joined by his son and son-in-law, a new generation infuses youthful energy and fresh perspective into the rich heritage of flamenco and Gypsy rumba, while honoring the authenticity and passion that define their roots.
