There are drummers, and then there is Nate Smith: the GRAMMY-nominated bandleader, composer, and producer who has spent his career building a vocabulary of rhythm that most musicians spend a lifetime chasing. He played at the Blue Note at 20 alongside Betty Carter. He built the backbeat for Late Night with Seth Meyers. He co-wrote with Michael Jackson. He toured the world with Dave Holland. And through all of it, he kept going deeper.
His latest album is the sound of someone with nothing to prove and everything to say. Titled, LIVE ACTION, the project is a producer-led, fully analog project made with Lalah Hathaway, Charlie Hunter, Michael League, and a cast of collaborators that reads like a who's-who of modern musicianship.
