Lúnasa brings world class Irish traditional music to City Winery Nashville for an evening of breathtaking musicianship and timeless sound. Named for an ancient Celtic harvest festival honoring Lugh, the Irish god of the arts, Lúnasa truly lives up to its namesake as a gathering of some of Ireland’s most celebrated instrumentalists. The band’s members have helped define modern Irish music through their work with legendary groups and artists. Bassist Trevor Hutchinson was a longtime member of The Waterboys and later helped anchor The Sharon Shannon Band alongside guitarist Donogh Hennessy. Today, guitarist Ed Boyd, known for his work with Flook and the Michael McGoldrick Band, brings his dynamic style to the group. Fiddler Sean Smyth, an All Ireland champion, has performed with Donal Lunny’s Coolfin, while flutist Kevin Crawford, widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest, rose to prominence with the acclaimed group Moving Cloud. Completing the lineup is piper Cillian Vallely, a member of the renowned Vallely artistic family, whose credits include Riverdance and recordings with Bruce Springsteen. Together, Lúnasa delivers performances filled with drive, elegance, and deep tradition, earning praise from Folk Roots magazine as an Irish music dream team.
