A founding member of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, Kaukonen has spent more than five decades shaping the worlds of rock, blues, folk, and American roots music.
A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and GRAMMY recipient, Kaukonen helped define the San Francisco psychedelic rock movement with Jefferson Airplane before continuing his musical journey with Hot Tuna and an acclaimed solo career. Known for his masterful fingerstyle guitar, soulful vocals, and deeply personal songwriting, he continues to breathe new life into traditional blues while performing original songs that showcase his unmistakable style.
Beyond the stage, Kaukonen and his wife, Vanessa Lillian, founded Fur Peace Ranch in southeastern Ohio, a music education and performance retreat dedicated to sharing the art of guitar and fostering the next generation of musicians.
