On October 3, Jillith Fair and Women Who Rock will present a special evening at City Winery Pittsburgh celebrating the life, music, humor, and lasting legacy of singer-songwriter Jill Sobule.
The evening will be hosted by Jill’s Pittsburgh-based backing band, Jill’s Jagoffs, and will feature special guest performances by Tracy Bonham and Maia Sharp, along with Liz Berlin, Melissa Knauer, Jen Fisher, and Pete Bush. Together, the artists will honor Jill through the songs, stories, and spirit that made her such a singular and beloved voice.
Across more than three decades and a dozen albums, Jill Sobule built a career defined by fearless songwriting that was deeply personal, socially conscious, seriously funny, and often poignantly irreverent. Her best-known songs include “I Kissed a Girl,” the first openly gay-themed song to reach the Billboard Top 20, and “Supermodel,” featured in the film Clueless. Her work explored everything from LGBTQ issues and the Christian Right to adolescence, politics, relationships, and everyday absurdities. Following her death on May 1, 2025, a number of her previously scheduled performances evolved into Jillith Fair – Loving Jill Sobule events, created to keep her music and memory alive while supporting causes she cared deeply about through the It Was A Good Life Foundation.
