Jack O'Neill (from Jackopierce)
City Winery Boston presents(opens in a new tab) Jack O'Neill (from Jackopierce) live on November 17th at 7:30pm.
Jack O'Neill is an actor, singer-songwriter, and co-founder of Jackopierce — the Texas-born duo that spent over 35 years building one of indie rock's most devoted followings.
The son of an army paratrooper and a classically trained pianist, O'Neill grew up moving through army towns across the American South before landing in New York City. He trained at Southern Methodist University's BFA Theater program on scholarship.
As co-founder of Jackopierce, O'Neill has recorded and toured for over 35 years, sharing stages with Lyle Lovett, Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Rob Thomas, The Wallflowers, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. The band's songs have been produced by T-Bone Burnett (Academy Award and Grammy winner), John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Pink), and Stan Lynch (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers). Jackopierce performed original music on Late Night with Conan O'Brien backed by Max Weinberg and the Max Weinberg 7, and with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
His solo work — including the 2025 album North Star, produced by J. Michael Smith at Sunland Studio in Dallas — pushes further into the personal. Cinematic and spare, part bedroom confessional and indie-rock attitude, sharp and literate, with equal shades of humor and pathos. Stories about good people trying to do their best in a turbulent world.
As an actor, O'Neill was a member of The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea Theater in NYC. His television credits include Law & Order (NBC), FBI (CBS), New Amsterdam (NBC), and ESPN’s ‘72 Voodoo Dolphins as Don Shula. Film credits include In the Night and Listen F$ckers. He currently works at the Master level in Bob Krakower's acting workshop.
He writes about all of it — the music, the craft, the people who make it possible — at stargatecommando.substack.com.
