Gunhild Carling
Born into Sweden's storied Carling musical dynasty, Gunhild Carling picked up her first instrument before she could walk and hasn't put one down since. Today she moves fluidly between trombone, trumpet, recorder, ukulele, piano, harmonica, and bagpipes, often within the same song.
Her performances with Postmodern Jukebox introduced her multi-instrumental swing to a global audience, and her videos have drawn more than 70 million views online. She has held residencies at Birdland in New York, toured with the Count Basie Orchestra under Scotty Barnhart's direction, and played stages ranging from Carnegie Hall to the streets of New Orleans. Peers and critics regard her as one of the most versatile performers working in jazz today, equally at home leading a big band or holding a room with nothing but her voice and a single horn.
