Gunhild Carling is Sweden’s Queen of Swing, Jazz, and Vaudeville — a multi-instrumentalist, celebrated jazz musician, singer, dancer and entertainer who has captivated audiences worldwide with her boundless energy and extraordinary musical prowess. Her most recent album, “Jazz Is My Lifestyle”, features eleven all-original tracks and garnered critical acclaim in multiple countries worldwide, while she is currently gearing up for a series of live performances around the country and overseas, including over two-dozen summer Jazz festival appearances. She has toured with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra under the direction of Scotty Barnhart, performed for King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at his 40 years in the Throne celebration and again at his 70th birthday event, at the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals, and brought her unique brand of swing and vaudeville to stages from Carnegie Hall to the streets of New Orleans.
Her many fans also know her from her live performances with Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ), a rotating musical collective founded by pianist Scott Bradlee in 2011 that rearranges modern pop hits into vintage genres like jazz, swing, ragtime, and doo-wop, while gaining massive popularity through YouTube, garnering over 2.2 billion views and 6.4 million subscribers. Her electrifying performances with Postmodern Jukebox introduced her to millions, while her residencies at Birdland in New York City and sold-out shows at the Blue Note Milano cemented her reputation among the jazz elite. Beyond her viral success, Carling is a deeply respected jazz artist and composer. Her foundation is rooted in traditional New Orleans jazz, swing, and the influences of legends like Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.
Gunhild Carling is also a well-known TV personality in Sweden and internationally, having appeared on numerous programs, including: Allsång på Skansen, Let’s Dance (Dancing with the Stars, Sweden – where she placed 3rd), Fångarna på Fortet (Fear Factory), Så ska det låta (Songwriter’s Board), America’s Got Talent, and ABC News. With the Carling Family, TV appearances include Affären Ramel, Nygammalt, Café Sundsvall, Polish TV, Sommarkonsert Askersund, Aktuellt SVT, Sommarkonsert Gröna Lund, and RTL Germany.
