Curtis Salgado
Curtis Salgado has spent more than five decades proving that a voice can carry a room without needing volume to do it, moving fluidly across blues, funk, soul, gospel, and R&B. Billboard has described his sound as hard-nosed blues shot through with nuance and funk, and NPR has called him, simply, an icon.
The résumé backs it up. Salgado has won the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award and fourteen Blues Music Awards. He co-led the Robert Cray Band, backed Albert Collins closely enough to coin his nickname "The Master of the Telecaster," fronted Roomful of Blues, and served as lead vocalist for Santana. In 1977, he introduced a young John Belushi to the soul and blues catalog that directly inspired the Blues Brothers.
His new live album, Legacy Rewind: Live in '25, was recorded at Seattle's Triple Door with a fifteen-piece band and released on Nola Blue Records in April 2026.
