Forty years is a long time to keep a band together. It's longer still to keep the songs feeling alive. BoDeans have done both.
The Waukesha, Wisconsin roots rock institution is marking four decades with a nationwide anniversary tour — and City Winery is one of the stops. Founding member Kurt Neumann leads the band through a catalog that helped define American heartland rock: guitar-driven, emotionally direct, built for the kind of room where you can feel the bass in your chest and still hear every word.
Expect a set that earns its runtime. "Good Things," "Idaho," and "Closer to Free" are here — songs that have been soundtracking people's lives since the early '90s — alongside deeper cuts for the fans who know every record and a look at where the band is headed next. These are songs that people sing along to without thinking about it, which is about as high a compliment as American songwriting gets.
