Alvin Garrett is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, an independent recording artist, a bass guitarist, a successful entrepreneur, and a catalytic thought leader. In all of Garrett’s endeavors, there is an intersection of art, advocacy, and cultural awareness. With a masterful blend of soul, substance, and strategy, Garrett uses his talent and platform not only to entertain but to empower. Garrett’s trajectory as a songwriter began to point upwards in 2010 when he partnered with award-winning producer and songwriter, Fred Jerkins III of Darkchild Gospel. With Jerkins, Garrett garnered a Grammy nomination, a Dove Award, and a Stellar Award while writing songs for notable artists such as Deitrick Haddon, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Darwin Hobbs, Darlene McCoy, Alexis Spight, Lowell Pye, and more. Most recently, his song “Clap My Way”, recorded by gospel artist Micah Lee, earned a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2025 Stellar Awards. The R&B side of Garrett’s pen has carved out hits for artists such as Joe, Kelly Rowland, Fantasia, Noel Gourdin, Jordan Knight, Johnny Gill, Ruben Studdard & more. His wide-ranging collaborations as a songwriter showcase a creative versatility that crosses genres and generations.
