David Broza is an internationally renowned Israeli singer-songwriter, recognized for his masterful guitar skills and passionate commitment to peace. His signature sound brings together a fusion of Israeli pop, Spanish flamenco, American folk and rock, often set to poetic lyrics from diverse poets.
Across his long career, Broza has released over 40 albums in Hebrew, English, and Spanish, many of these albums achieving gold and platinum status. Born in Haifa, Israel, Broza spent his formative years in Spain and England, returning to Israel to start his musical career at age 22.
His grandfather, Wellesley Aron, co-founded the Jewish-Arab peace village Neve Shalom/Wāħat as-Salām, inspiring David’s lifelong support of peace advocacy. Social justice is embedded in Broza’s work, and his 1977 hit song “Yihye Tov” (“Things Will Be Better”) remains an Israeli peace anthem.
Broza has performed with global icons such as Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, and Wyclef Jean, and released a full album using unpublished poetry by Townes Van Zandt.
His travels have contributed to his international sound and commitment to human connection, story-telling, and equality. At the core of his social justice work is the belief that music is a platform for dialogue and tolerance. In 2014, he released the groundbreaking album and documentary East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem to widespread acclaim. Produced by Grammy-award winners Steve Earle and Steve Greenberg, the album was recorded entirely in the Palestinian Sabreen studio in East Jerusalem, featuring both Israeli and Palestinian musicians.
In recent years, Broza has debuted a fully instrumental album, En Casa Limón (2020), and introduced Tefila (2022)—a creative reimagining of Jewish liturgy set to folk, jazz, and choral arrangements—performed frequently at New York’s Temple Emanu-El.
Following the events of October 7, 2023, Broza traversed across Israel, often in helmet and tactical vest, performing nearly nightly for displaced people and reservist units—sometimes playing five intimate pop-up shows a day to offer comfort through music.
Late in 2024, Broza reunited with Yehudit Ravitz, Yoni Rechter and Gidi Gov for a series of concerts titled “Hakeves Hashisha-Asar Veshirim Shelanu Gam” (“The Sixteenth Sheep and Our Songs Too”). Few albums have embedded themselves into the soul of Israeli culture like Hakeves Hashisha-Asar (The Sixteenth Sheep). The 1978 children’s album, written by the late Yehonatan Geffen and Yoni Rechter, captures the essence of childhood wonder and unbridled curiosity. Within hours, the first 10 shows sold out to an estimated 25,000 fans. Additional shows have been added throughout 2025.
David Broza is the founder of the non-profit One Million Guitars, which provides underprivileged school children around the world with a hand-crafted guitar and musical education.
Appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, his co-written song “Together” marked the organization's 50th anniversary worldwide.
David Broza is a multi-cultural troubadour; a charismatic, dynamic performer; and a humanitarian who uses his voice and guitar to transcend borders, inspire dialogue, and promote peace. His music is a potent blend of art and empathy.
